NIV Good or Bad, Pt. 3

Satan’s goal is to steal, kill and destroy by any means possible. One way he is accomplishing this is through various translation of the Bible. The argument is that since the KJ was translated more ancient texts have been found and these texts as a whole do not have the words or entire scripture verses that have been removed. I pray that whatever translation of the Bible you are using you will take time to really look at the difference in these scriptures. Do your own study. I hope you take time out to look at how these omissions have affected the integrity of the word of God.

I took a couple of scriptures and commented on them.

King James Bible Luke 4:4

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

New International Version Luke 4:4
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone.'"

If this were the only verse in the New Testament that talked about where man gets his spiritual food how would we know that this food is the word of God? It makes a huge impact when “but by every word of God” is removed. OK, if I am not supposed to live on bread alone, then what am I to live by? Do I need water, meat and other natural substances to sustain my life? With this removed how are we to know Jesus is talking about spiritual food? Let us take a look at scripture; we know that Jesus is the bread that came down from heaven. He said in St. John 6:32-58 that he is the true bread. He said we must eat his flesh and drink his blood, his flesh is meat indeed and his blood is drink indeed. Did Jesus mean that we were to eat his natural body? No. When Jesus said in verse 53 that whoever eats his flesh and drinks his blood has eternal life, was he talking about the bread and wine that many people use when they partake of the Lord’s Supper? No he was not. Eating a wafer and drinking wine will not get us into the kingdom of God. It does not even cleanse us from our sin.

When we partake of the Lords supper as Paul wrote in I Corinthians chapter eleven, we are doing it in remembrance of Jesus, the sacrifice he made for us of his body and his blood; we are to eat of THAT BREAD and drink of THAT CUP. How can we eat and drink unworthily and bring damnation to ourselves? How do we not discern his body? When we partake of the Lords supper, we are to make a distinction between the natural food we eat and this that represents the body and blood of Christ. When Paul said in I Corinthians chapter 11 that for this reason many are weak and sickly and many sleep was he speaking about this in a natural sense? Do people fall dead and get sick when they partake of the Lords supper and have sin in their lives. You be the judge of yourself. We are weak, sickly and sleep when we are unaware of what the word of God says when we follow the precepts of man instead of the word of God. When we fail to study to show ourselves approved unto God; when we allow sin to operate in our lives, when we do not repent, etc., etc., etc. How do we eat the flesh of Jesus, we eat it by partaking of his word. How do we drink his blood, by being filled with his Spirit? We must follow his precepts and keep his commandments. Remember that precept must be upon precept; precept must be upon precept, line upon line; line upon line, here a little and there a little.

King James Bible Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

New International Version Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

This verse leaves off “who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” We are not condemned if we are in Christ Jesus, true. But isn’t it important to know that there is something we must do in order to stay out of condemnation. The rest of the verse lets us know that if we are walking after the spirit we are not condemned. If you did not know that this part of the verse had been removed you would believe that it didn’t matter how you lived your life. You would never be condemned, because many people who say they are Christians today have no idea what it means to be a true follower of Christ.

This is a partial list of scripture verses where part of the verse has been removed. There are many more and I will post them when I find more. You must also know that entire scripture verses have also been removed. I will also post those at a later date.
